Job Description
New Covenant Academy is a Christian educational institution committed to providing a quality learning environment grounded in Biblical principles. The academy emphasizes both academic excellence and spiritual growth, striving to nurture students not just intellectually but also morally and spiritually. Established with a mission to train young individuals for a purposeful life, New Covenant Academy integrates faith into daily activities and fosters a community where students and staff are encouraged to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The academy seeks a Part-Time Kitchen Staff member to join its dedicated food service team. This role is critical in supporting the nutritional and daily meal requirements of the school community. The position involves a variety of kitchen duties including food preparation, serving, cooking, washing dishes, operating computer scanning systems (with training provided), as well as cleaning and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned. Working hours are from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, but end times may vary depending on the completion of tasks before the scheduled time. This part-time role offers flexible scheduling within a structured environment, making it ideal for those who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced settings.
The role demands individuals who not only possess a working knowledge of kitchen fundamentals but are also customer service oriented with a positive and infectious attitude that can inspire both staff and students. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively within a team and with students is essential. Members of the kitchen staff must be capable of working independently and managing their responsibilities with minimal supervision, ensuring smooth operation of the food service area.
Physical agility is necessary as the position requires standing and walking for long periods—typically four to five hours each shift. Employees must be able to bend, reach, balance, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting of up to 25-30 pounds. The work environment consists of a fluorescent-lit kitchen and cafeteria where meals are prepared and served under hygienic conditions.
Unique to this role at New Covenant Academy is the integration of spiritual values into the day-to-day responsibilities. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, reflecting a Christian testimony that can serve as a true example to students. They must agree fully with the academy's Statement of Faith and exhibit dedication to their work as a service 'unto the Lord.' Active involvement in a local church community, consistent Bible reading, and prayer are also vital to this position.
While this is a part-time position without additional benefits, it offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute within a faith-based educational environment. It is ideal for candidates who are motivated by service, thrive on teamwork, and align with the spiritual mission of New Covenant Academy. The school promotes an inclusive work environment, affirming nondiscrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, veteran status, or other legally protected categories.
