The Food Service Site Coordinator role is a critical position within the Food Service Department, reporting directly to the Director of Food Service and located at Fairgrounds Middle School. This role involves supervising food service staff, ensuring compliance with nutritional standards, managing food procurement and inventory, and maintaining overall program accountability. The position is on a 196-work-day schedule, covering the standard 180 school days plus additional days in August and June. Offering a competitive salary and benefits under the NASAS contract, this full-time position is essential to the success and efficiency of the district's food service operations.

The Food Service Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the efficiency and effectiveness of a cluster of school-based food service operations, specifically at Fairgrounds Middle School. This includes direct supervision and evaluation of food service staff, managing purchasing and inventory, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and child nutrition program standards, and leading efforts to provide high-quality meals that meet or exceed federal, state, and local guidelines. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple school kitchens, coordinate with principals and program directors, and meet budgetary goals. The coordinator must also provide excellent customer service by ensuring meals are served in pleasant environments by courteous staff and by supporting student and parent-teacher organization activities. The position demands knowledge of relevant statutes, administrative skills, and physical capability to handle kitchen duties, including lifting and carrying substantial weight. The Food Service Site Coordinator plays a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment conducive to student well-being through rigorous sanitation standards and program integrity. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • two years experience in quantity food preparation and school nutrition programs
  • one year administrative or supervisory responsibility desirable
  • knowledge of local, state and federal statutes pertaining to school lunch and breakfast requirements
  • ability to operate and care for kitchen equipment
  • keyboard skills and computer literacy desirable
  • physical capability to walk, bend, stand for long periods
  • ability to lift and carry objects weighing 50 pounds
  • ability to work with food service and cleaning products
  • must have personal automobile or truck available during workday

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Manages multiple school-based kitchen staff
  • supervises, evaluates, and trains school personnel
  • recommends appointment, termination, transfer, and scheduling of food service personnel
  • arranges for substitutes
  • writes monthly menu for secondary school in compliance with USDA Child Nutrition standards
  • prepares food and supply orders by school site
  • maintains daily inventory of food and supplies by school site
  • submits monthly inventory report to Director by school site
  • ensures that safety and health standards at school kitchens comply with local, state, and federal regulations
  • documents compliance issues
  • maintains integrity and accountability of the Child Nutrition Program
  • assures proper collection and deposit of cafeteria receipts
  • ensures student and staff accounts are accurate
  • responsible for meeting budgetary goals by school site
  • provides a safe environment through high sanitation standards
  • provides leadership to ensure pleasant meal service
  • offers students a wide variety of quality meals meeting nutritional standards
  • serves as a resource for student and PTO activities
  • coordinates food preparation and delivery for the Federal Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant Program
  • handles Red Cross Shelter food service arrangements
  • performs other duties related to food services and attends meetings as required
