Job Requirements

  • Meet state classified civil service requirements
  • Have 600 hours training or 6 months experience in kitchen equipment operation
  • Have 600 hours training or 6 months experience in food preparation
  • Completed 6 courses or 6 months experience in supervision
  • Completed 6 courses or 6 months experience in food management
  • Completed 1 course or 1 month experience in budgeting
  • Completed 1 course or 1 month experience in bookkeeping
  • Available to work varying shifts
  • Successfully pass background check
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the role

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of 600 hours training in operation of kitchen equipment or 6 months experience
  • Completion of 600 hours training in food preparation or 6 months experience
  • Completion of 6 courses in supervision or 6 months experience
  • Completion of 6 courses in food management or 6 months experience
  • Completion of 1 course in budgeting or 1 month experience
  • Completion of 1 course in bookkeeping or 1 month experience
  • Preferred 1-3 years of food service management experience
  • Ability to lead and supervise a team effectively
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and direct daily food service operations in assigned areas
  • Supervise, train, and participate in activities of nutrition aides, sales assistants, and kitchen personnel
  • Requisition food and food-related products ensuring timely supply
  • Enforce sanitation plans and quality standards in food preparation and service
  • Initiate and maintain partnerships with other hospital departments to support operations
  • Manage labor distribution and shift scheduling for maximum efficiency
  • Assist with policies and procedures development and management
