The organization is dedicated to creating an inclusive workplace where employees are supported both professionally and personally, offering numerous opportunities for career growth and development. Working at NGHS means becoming part of a dynamic team invested in your success and wellbeing, where patient-centered service is at the core of everything.
The Food Services Representative (FSR) role at Northeast Georgia Health System is a vital hospitality position focused on delivering exceptional meal service to patients. This role involves several responsibilities including retrieving meal selections, ensuring the accuracy of patient trays, delivering meals, assisting patients with meal setup, and maintaining stock levels in unit pantries. The FSR serves as a direct link between the dietary department and patients, emphasizing kindness, respect, and extraordinary service at all times. Candidates must be able to read and comprehend diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments accurately. The position demands a willingness to perform routine and repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions, requiring good numerical skills for recipe preparation and proper measurement of cleaning chemicals. Adequate motor coordination and manual dexterity are essential for handling various equipment and performing tasks such as preparing food items, assembling trays, washing dishes, and cleaning work areas.
The FSR position requires flexibility in working hours, especially in emergency situations, and the ability to remain patient and tolerant toward guests, staff, patients, and family members. Maintaining a neat and professional appearance is also fundamental. The role supports compliance with federal and state long-term care regulations along with departmental policies and continuous quality improvement programs. Participation in safety procedures and knowledge of material safety data sheets (MSDS) are integral to the FSR’s duties ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
This full-time position operates on a 12-hour morning to evening shift schedule within the Food Services and Dietetics department. While the job includes physically demanding tasks such as occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds and standing or walking for most of the shift, it provides a rewarding opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient satisfaction and care through excellent food service. Northeast Georgia Health System values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering an inclusive working environment free from discrimination. Candidates who join NGHS will benefit from being part of a team that supports their personal and professional growth while enhancing the health of the community.
