Aramark Correctional Services is a renowned provider of food and support services within secure correctional facilities, operating across multiple regions to deliver safe, efficient, and quality food production and management. As part of Aramark, a global leader in foodservice and facilities management operating in 15 countries, the Correctional Services division is dedicated to serving the unique needs of correctional institutions through adherence to stringent safety, health, and security standards. The company is driven by a core mission of service, unity, and the empowerment of both employees and the communities they serve, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where every team member can grow professionally and personally. With a commitment to equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination, Aramark ensures that its environment supports career development and embraces people from all backgrounds.
The role of Food Service Manager within Aramark Correctional Services involves critical leadership and operation management responsibilities focused on overseeing daily food production in secure correctional settings. This position requires a strong capability to manage large-scale kitchen operations effectively while ensuring compliance with facility-specific, state, and federal regulations. The Food Service Manager supervises both staff and incarcerated workers and maintains rigorous food safety and security measures essential to the correctional environment. A significant part of the role includes managing inventory and cost controls, ensuring menus meet nutritional standards, and guaranteeing that overall food service activities align with client expectations and regulatory guidelines.
This position is central to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the foodservice operation, requiring a leader who is both mission-driven and adept at teamwork and communication. The Food Service Manager at Aramark Correctional Services is expected to utilize Aramark's coaching model to engage team members fully, drive performance through recognition and support, and lead daily team briefings focused on safety, sanitation, and operational excellence. Beyond operational management, this role demands close interaction and relationship-building with clients to ensure their needs are met and operational progress is effectively communicated. Financial oversight is a critical aspect, involving maintenance of profit and loss statements, meeting financial targets, and educating teams on key performance metrics and cost control strategies.
Furthermore, the manager will ensure productivity by implementing efficient operations and cost management to meet food and labor initiatives. Compliance with all policies, including safety and wage regulations, is prioritized to sustain a safe and healthy working environment. In addition to managing kitchen operations, the Food Service Manager leads the front-of-house dining operation in partnership with the Food Service Director to deliver a high-quality dining experience. This role is dynamic and may evolve with emerging organizational needs; therefore, adaptability and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.
Aramark offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plans, and more. The company’s culture promotes mission-driven work that helps individuals build a better future and provides opportunities for career growth through training and development. Employees become part of an inclusive and supportive environment focused on personal and professional success. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a meaningful career that combines leadership, client engagement, operational excellence, and a commitment to serving a critical sector of the community through food service management.
