This job posting is for the position of Food Service Manager within the Market Grille department at Hy-Vee. The position is an exempt role that offers a unique leadership opportunity for individuals passionate about food service excellence and customer engagement. As a Food Service Manager, you will be responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service that upholds Hy-Vee’s high standards. This role involves supervising and collaborating with multiple food service teams including Chinese, Italian, Restaurant, and Kitchen departments to ensure the freshest, most innovative, and highest quality food products are prepared and offered at competitive prices.

The Food Service Manager plays a key role in managing day-to-day operations by overseeing food quality and presentation, managing inventory, planning menus with chefs, estimating food and beverage costs, and enforcing sanitary and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership skills as you will be responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising the department’s food service personnel. Additionally, this position requires collaboration with store management, marketing, and advertising teams to plan special restaurant functions and promotions. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of similar or related experience
  • must be able to physically perform medium work with exertion up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions
  • must possess excellent hospitality skills
  • ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • ability to do arithmetic calculations
  • must understand and practice proper sanitation procedures
  • must adhere to company policies
  • must report to work when scheduled and on time

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
