We are currently seeking a Food Services Manager to lead our catering operations and staff. This role involves managing both union and non-union employees to ensure exceptional customer service standards across all catering events. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing fast-paced environments, balancing front-of-house and back-of-house responsibilities, and motivating teams to deliver quality service. This position demands strong leadership presence, attention to detail, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations during busy events.

As a Food Services Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient execution of all catering activities related to event setup, staff coordination, and client satisfaction. You will need to maintain high productivity, quality, and sanitation standards while handling operational logistics. Coordination with various departments such as culinary, sales, operations, and housekeeping is critical to solving challenges and meeting or exceeding client expectations.

Your role will also include training and instructing food and beverage employees on service procedures and equipment use, enforcing food service safety and sanitation guidelines, and working closely with upper management to ensure adequate staffing for upcoming events. Given the physical demands of the job, you must be prepared to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and be capable of physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 100 pounds and operating in environments with varying temperature and noise levels.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in food and beverage management
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds regularly
  • Ability to endure loud noise and temperature changes in the work environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must pass a background check and provide documents verifying legal permission to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience in a food and beverage managerial role
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, POS, with MICROS a plus
  • Ability to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to calculate amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to execute instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Union experience is a plus

Job Duties

  • Oversee employees, including union and non-union supervisors during busy events
  • Preserve and execute excellent levels of internal and external customer service
  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor during events to oversee execution of event plans
  • Train and instruct food and beverage employees on procedures, equipment, service standards, etc.
  • Organize and monitor set-up of assigned catering events
  • Enforce food service sanitation and safety, food handling procedures
  • Coordinate with other departments including culinary, sales, operations, housekeeping, and any other division to solve problems and meet client expectations
  • Work with Director of Ops and Scheduling Department regarding proper staffing levels for events
