At Sodexo, the focus lies on creating a better everyday experience for everyone — clients, customers, and employees alike. Among its many services, Sodexo offers tailored food and nutrition programs along with environmental services, healthcare technology management, patient experience services, and retail solutions. With a commitment to sustainability, diversity, and inclusion, Sodexo fosters workplaces where all employees are valued, respected, and empowered to grow professionally. The company is deeply engaged in contributing to social, economic, and environmental progress in the communities it serves.
This specific Food Service Manager 1 position is based at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital in Lansing, MI, a well-regarded healthcare facility dedicated to providing quality patient care. As a Food Service Manager, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for delivering outstanding patient food services that align with Sodexo's mission of enhancing the patient experience. Your leadership will be critical in overseeing daily operations of Sodexo’s Patient Dining Program, including meal preparation, delivery, service recovery, and quality assurance. You will collaborate closely with clinical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure food services meet both nutritional standards and patient satisfaction goals.
The role requires evaluating and developing service levels within the overall Patient Services Program, aiming to exceed patient and customer expectations. You will conduct tray assessments to ensure food quality, presentation, and accuracy, ensuring that Sodexo’s established standards and regulatory requirements are met or surpassed. Beyond operational tasks, this leadership role demands mentoring, developing, and retaining frontline staff while managing direct supervision of hourly employees. Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with hospital clients and other stakeholders will be central to your responsibilities.
Sodexo provides a culture where diversity, inclusion, and respect are foundational pillars. Employees are encouraged to express their ideas and contribute to continuous improvement within their teams. Sodexo also emphasizes fair, equitable compensation based on experience, skills, education, and training, alongside a comprehensive benefits package. The package commonly includes medical, dental, and vision care, wellness programs, 401(k) plans with matching contributions, paid time off, holidays, tuition reimbursement, and career growth opportunities. Sodexo supports employees' professional development and well-being while upholding its core values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Enthusiasm, and Service (Sodexo CARES).
This role is ideal for candidates with a passion for healthcare food service leadership, exceptional communication and management skills, and the ability to uphold the highest service standards. Knowledge of nutrition and specialized diets is advantageous but not mandatory. Join Sodexo in Lansing, MI, and contribute to delivering a superior dining experience that directly impacts patient care and satisfaction every day.
