The Food Service Lead position at Banner North Colorado Medical Center is a full-time role within the Culinary and Nutrition Department, specifically focused on hospital culinary services. This position requires leadership and coordination skills to manage daily shift operations and ensure smooth functioning in various culinary service areas. The role involves overseeing staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and maintaining high standards for food quality, sanitation, and customer service.

This leadership role demands the ability to work independently and make effective decisions throughout the shift. Duties include filling in across different stations as needed, managing inventory and food production based on forecasts and budgetary considerations, and training staff to ensure excellent customer service. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least one year of relevant experience in culinary services or food service
  • Ability to obtain Food Protection Manager Certification
  • Knowledge of food handling regulations
  • Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, and dishwashers
  • Ability to use computer and point of sale systems
  • Must be able to work independently and assume leadership responsibilities

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • One or more years of experience in culinary services or similar food and customer service roles
  • Ability to operate computer software, email, and point of sale systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and event meal planning
  • Ability to inventory food and supplies and perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to learn and pass food handling certification
  • Experience operating kitchen and food service equipment
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Additional culinary education or relevant experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Independently and effectively lead and oversee daily culinary service operations
  • Monitor food handling and sanitation standards to meet regulatory requirements
  • Resolve customer issues and support staff development in customer service skills
  • Inventory food and supplies and manage ordering and production within budget guidelines
  • Prepare food items according to production forecasts and standardized recipes
  • Perform duties in various service and preparation areas and address minor meal service problems
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitation of equipment and work areas
  • Provide training and coordination for catered food services and perform billing and reporting tasks
  • Participate in departmental meetings and training
  • Communicate effectively with customers, staff, vendors, and management
