The Food Service Lead position at Banner North Colorado Medical Center is a full-time role that plays a crucial part in managing and coordinating culinary services within the hospital. The Food Service Lead is expected to have the ability to work independently while providing guidance and direction to culinary staff across various areas. The role requires shift work with varied schedules, including mornings and evenings, and involves working every other weekend with holiday rotations. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One or more years of experience in culinary and food service work
  • Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Food Protection Manager Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and assume leadership responsibilities
  • Ability to operate food service and office equipment
  • Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards
  • Ability to inventory food and supplies
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training
  • Ability to resolve customer and staff issues professionally

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge and experience in culinary services typically gained through one or more years in food and customer service roles
  • Ability to learn and operate computer software, email, and point of sale systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Previous experience in food preparation techniques and meal planning
  • Ability to inventory supplies and perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
  • Experience operating various food service and office equipment
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Additional education or related experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Lead and oversee daily culinary service operations independently
  • Monitor food handling and sanitation standards to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Resolve customer issues and support staff in developing customer service skills
  • Inventory food and supplies, determine ordering needs based on par levels and special requirements
  • Prepare food items according to production forecasts and standardized recipes
  • Perform tasks in various service and preparation areas
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitation of equipment and work areas
  • Provide training and coordination for catered events
  • Participate in department meetings and training sessions
  • Communicate and make decisions with customers, employees, management, and vendors
