The role available is a Culinary Services Lead position within Banner Health’s Culinary and Nutrition Department. This full-time leadership role involves supervising culinary staff while actively participating in various culinary service functions to ensure high standards in food preparation, safety, and customer service. The position features varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, with a flat rate weekend shift differential for applicable hours. The Culinary Services Lead is responsible for managing daily culinary operations, including maintaining compliance with food safety regulations and internal standards, training staff, inventory management, food production, and supporting catered events. This role requires a candidate who not only brings solid cooking skills and customer service experience but also the ability to lead and inspire a team effectively. The ideal candidate should have previous experience in a similar lead capacity, demonstrating sound judgment and proactive problem-solving capabilities. They will also oversee budgeting aspects related to food costs and inventory control to ensure efficiency. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum one year of relevant culinary and customer service experience
- Ability to learn and use computer software and point of sale systems
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to train and manage staff effectively
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, grills, and cleaning equipment
- Must possess or obtain necessary food handling certification
- Must be able to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
- Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital and Olive Branch Senior Center must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it during employment
- Must sign an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit at hire
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum one year of experience in culinary services or similar food and customer service work
- Ability to operate computer software, email, and point of sale systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food handling regulations
- Ability to perform inventory and mathematical calculations
- Experience operating kitchen and food service equipment
- Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred
- Additional education or experience in cooking and customer service preferred
Job Duties
- Independently lead and oversee daily culinary service operations while working in various culinary roles
- Maintain food handling and sanitation standards to comply with licensing agency requirements
- Resolve customer issues and support staff development in customer service skills
- Train staff in work processes and service delivery
- Manage inventory of food and supplies, determine ordering and production based on par levels and budget guidelines
- Prepare food according to production forecasts and established recipes
- Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance of equipment and work areas
- Coordinate food services for catered events and handle related billing and reporting
- Participate in department meetings and training sessions
- Communicate effectively and make decisions involving customers, employees, vendors, and management
