The Jr Sous Chef position at SSA is a pivotal role within the culinary team, reporting directly to the Sous Chef. This role is designed for individuals with 1-2 years of culinary experience who aspire to develop their leadership skills and culinary expertise in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The Jr Sous Chef supports the preparation and operation of the kitchen, ensuring that food quality, safety, and service standards exceed expectations. Embracing the 452 Hospitality philosophy, the Jr Sous Chef is expected to deliver warm, memorable experiences to guests while maintaining operational excellence behind the scenes.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage day-to-day operational tasks, oversee kitchen staff, and maintain rigorous safety and hygiene standards. The Jr Sous Chef manages inventory, food preparation, and staff training, while also assisting in menu planning and maintaining communication with other team members and management. The position demands flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively under pressure. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Live out 452 Hospitality by delivering warm welcoming and memorable experiences for every guest and client
  • Ensure restaurant location is adequately prepped and staffed for daily operation
  • Oversee kitchen duties ensuring quick service food service safety and quality availability merchandising and guest service standards are met and exceeded
  • Oversee safety logs including food temperatures rotation and waste
  • Ensure proper uniform hygiene handwashing and glove use with staff
  • Support SSAfety training with knife handling skills ensuring proper use of knives and slicers
  • Create daily prep and item lists delegating to employees as necessary
  • Assist the team to ensure all tasks are completed timely by helping complete daily tasks
  • Respond efficiently to guest and client feedback reporting to operations manager
  • Oversee training new employees and issuing performance reviews
  • Manage and issue progressive documentation to coach and counsel employee performance
  • Report employee attendance and hour discrepancies to payroll
  • Oversee break and rest break management for back of house employees
  • Inspect equipment and perform routine maintenance and cleaning
  • Communicate with Sous Chef and Food Service Operations Manager on service or quality issues
  • Work with restaurant supervisors to ensure locations operate to standard
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Maintain a clean safe and organized work environment
  • Uphold and demonstrate company policies and procedures
