The Child Nutrition Services Department is an integral part of the community, focused on providing nutritious and balanced meals to students within schools. The role of the 3 Hour Food Service Helper (Substitutes) is a part-time food service position with an hourly wage of $15.00. This role is designed for individuals who are capable of assisting the cooks, assistant cooks, and managers with the daily operations of the food service line. The Food Service Helper contributes to the smooth and efficient running of the meal service by performing a variety of tasks including setting up service lines, serving food items, managing cash registers, and maintaining cleanliness in the work area. This position requires a proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure that all meals are prepared and served following safety and hygiene standards.
The Food Service Helper is responsible for multiple important duties such as checking daily menus and production records to prepare the service line accordingly. They assist in dishing up salads, juices, fresh and canned fruits, and preparing breads and rolls for service. Additionally, they help in the preparation of cold food items, set up cash registers, and provide excellent service on the serving line. Part of their job also includes refilling hot and cold foods as needed, cleaning and sanitizing workstations and student tables, washing dishes and other kitchen equipment, and managing cash handling tasks including counting the register, completing bank deposits, and performing day-end procedures on the computer. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, efficient, and friendly food service environment that complies with health regulations and contributes positively to the nutrition of students.

Job Duties
