The Food Service General Worker position at Walter C. Young Middle School offers a vital opportunity for individuals passionate about food service and nutrition to contribute directly to student well-being. In addition to food preparation and customer service duties, the role includes operating point-of-sale systems as per federal guidelines and maintaining safe work environments through adherence to hygiene and sanitation standards. The position also offers hands-on responsibilities such as assisting with food orders, managing storage and inventory, and operating food service equipment safely. Regular driving duties include transporting food via vans or refrigerated/freezer trucks to satellite locations, further emphasizing the dynamic and varied nature of this role.

The Food Service General Worker acts as a frontline ambassador of the school’s food service program, interacting daily with students, school staff, parents, and other personnel. This role offers substantial community impact by ensuring that students receive meals that support their nutrition and academic performance. As part of the School Board of Broward County, employees benefit from a supportive work environment, compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies, and opportunities for professional growth through continuous training.
