The position requires an individual who is committed not only to preparing and serving nutritionally adequate meals but also ensuring compliance with all food safety standards and operational procedures.

The Food Service General Worker is responsible for various tasks including food preparation, service, cleaning duties, and inventory management. They operate food service equipment safely and manage deliveries across sites as necessary. This position demands someone capable of following precise production schedules, adhering to federal and state regulations, and maintaining a hygienic work environment. Candidates will participate in continual state-approved training programs related to nutrition, food safety, and quantity cooking to stay updated with best practices in school food service.

Job Requirements

  • Prior food service or cashier work experience
  • ability to follow directions, read, and communicate in English
  • effective communication skills with students, teachers, school administrators, and food and nutrition service personnel
  • computer skills as required
  • able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and lift up to 30 pounds
  • ability to drive vans and refrigerated trucks
  • valid Florida driver’s license preferred
  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • bilingual skills preferred
