The role of Food Service General Worker at Park Trails Elementary is an essential position within the Food and Nutrition Services department. This role involves skilled work in the preparation and service of nutritionally adequate, reimbursable meals aimed at supporting the health and well-being of students and staff. The worker is entrusted with maintaining production schedules, ensuring that quality standards are met, and compliance with food safety regulations is rigorously upheld. This position offers employment that involves less than six hours per day, with an hourly wage starting at $15.84, and follows a 192-day work calendar for the school year, classified under a nonexempt status with pay grade SF1121.
In this role, the Food Service General Worker performs a variety of tasks including food preparation using standardized recipes, food service involving direct interaction with students and staff, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards of the kitchen and food service areas. Key responsibilities also include operating point-of-sale systems following federal guidelines, managing inventory and ordering of food supplies, and ensuring compliance with the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) protocols which are integral to food safety. Drivers’ duties include delivering food between sites and maintaining vehicles, which requires a valid Florida driver's license. The position places a strong emphasis on exceptional customer service, professionalism, and exercising good judgment in all interactions within the school community.

Job Requirements
- Prior food service or cashier work experience
- Ability to follow directions, read, and communicate in English
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, teachers, and school administrators
- Computer skills as required for the position
- Valid Florida driver’s license preferred

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Follow daily work schedules for food production, service, and cleaning
- Participate in on-going state-approved training and educational initiatives
- Demonstrate and promote exceptional customer service
- Operate point-of-sale systems according to federal guidelines when assigned
- Adhere to food safety rules, departmental procedures, and HACCP
- Perform kitchen duties including pre-preparation, food production, service, clean-up, and check-in orders
- Assist with ordering, proper storage, and inventories for supplies and food items
- Follow written recipes and record data on production worksheets
- Operate food service equipment safely
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Ensure sanitation practices and compliance with hygiene standards
- Perform cleaning of food service equipment and facilities
- Drive vans and refrigerated trucks for food delivery
- Perform activities in compliance with employment and non-discrimination policies
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills
- Review technical literature related to job responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures
- Follow federal and state laws and School Board policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
