Job Description

The Clark County School District (CCSD) is one of the largest and most comprehensive public school districts in the United States. CCSD serves a diverse student population across numerous schools, central kitchens, and various district locations. Focused on providing high-quality education and support services, CCSD continually seeks dedicated professionals to join its team and contribute to its mission of fostering academic success and community growth. Among the numerous positions available, the Food Service Equipment Technician role is key to ensuring the smooth operation of food service equipment across all district facilities, supporting the nutritional needs of thousands of students daily.

The Food Service Equipment Technician is tasked with the installation, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of food service equipment, including but not limited to convection ovens, microwave ovens, slicers, mixers, steam tables, braising pans, steam kettles, and refrigeration units. This full-time, year-round position involves working under general supervision across various district locations, including schools and the central kitchen. The role demands technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs specific to food service equipment, as well as the ability to operate specialized tools safely. With a competitive hourly wage ranging from $26.52 to $37.33 and a consistent 40-hour workweek on a standard Monday to Friday day shift schedule, this job offers a stable career with excellent benefits.

Key responsibilities encompass troubleshooting and repairing a broad array of kitchen apparatus, installing components such as thermocouples and gas valves, maintaining lighting and boiler operations, calibrating equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and health standards like HACCP protocols. The technician will collaborate with vendors, contractors, and school staff to manage equipment installations and maintenance efficiently. Additionally, training and overseeing skilled trades assistants is an integral part of the position, contributing to workforce development within the school district.

Candidates for this position must have relevant experience in electrical and mechanical food service equipment repair, a high school diploma or equivalent, and valid certifications such as an aerial work platform certification and forklift qualification card (or willingness to obtain them within five months of hiring). The role requires strong physical stamina, ability to work flexible hours, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. The Clark County School District offers a robust benefits package, including dental, health, vision, and life insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, and employee assistance programs.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about technical repair work who want to make a tangible impact in an educational environment by ensuring that food service operations run smoothly and safely. Working in a supportive team atmosphere, the technician will play a vital role in sustaining the district’s commitment to student wellness and operational excellence, while advancing their own skills and career within a respected public institution.
