The Food Service Director position at Aramark is a key management role responsible for overseeing dining operations where customers order prepared foods from a menu. This leadership role involves developing and implementing strategic dining solutions tailored to customer needs and preferences while ensuring high standards of food quality and service. The Food Service Director will lead and mentor teams, engaging employees through recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management to maximize their contributions. They will also be responsible for maintaining safety and sanitation standards to guarantee a secure, healthy environment for clients, customers, and staff.

Additionally, the Food Service Director manages all aspects of financial performance, including budgeting, revenue building, cost controls related to food, beverage, and labor, and the completion of profit and loss statements. The Food Service Director also fosters positive client relationships by identifying their needs and effectively communicating operational updates, contributing to client retention and satisfaction.

Job Requirements

  • Requires at least 4 years of experience in food service
  • Requires 1 to 3 years of management experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods
  • Commitment to food safety, sanitation and operational excellence
  • Ability to adapt to changing job duties
  • Knowledge of budget management and cost control

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in food service
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in a management role
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective client and customer relationships
  • Excellent customer service skills based on Aramark's model
  • Ability to collaborate across departments to ensure unified food service experience
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Able to stand for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Lead, mentor, engage and develop teams including recruiting, training and managing performance

  • Coach employees by establishing clear goals and execution plans

  • Identify client needs and communicate operational progress effectively
  • Build revenue and manage budgets including cost controls for food, beverage and labor
  • Ensure completion and maintenance of profit and loss statements

  • Implement and maintain food and labor initiatives

  • Oversee production, distribution and food service operations

  • Comply with all policies, rules and regulations relating to safety, health, wage and hour
  • Establish systems for ordering, receiving, storing, preparing and serving food products
  • Develop operational forecasts and explain variances
  • Coordinate personnel on production, merchandising, quality and cost control
  • Recruit, hire, develop and retain frontline team
  • Conduct periodic inventory
  • Maintain records to comply with Aramark and government standards
  • Interact with client management and maintain effective relations
  • Participate in sales processes and contract negotiations
  • Implement new products and services to support sales growth and client retention
  • Manage front of house dining operations including cafeteria and residential dining facilities
  • Develop and implement food service plans aligned with client mission and vision including sustainability practices
