Located in Macon, Georgia, the Food Service Director role within the Elior Collegiate Dining team at Middle Georgia State University offers a full-time, onsite leadership position responsible for overseeing all functions of the food service department. The director will manage a team of food service professionals, ensuring operational excellence, staffing efficiency, and compliance with culinary, safety, and sanitation standards. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to work effectively in diverse environments, and a commitment to outstanding customer service. The Food Service Director will oversee budgeting, ingredient purchasing, and coordinate with district management and other departments, positioning themselves as a key figure in maintaining high-quality dining experiences for students and faculty. This role nurtures leadership skills through team hiring, training, and development while driving departmental performance to meet financial targets. Job Requirements

  • At least two years of experience coordinating food service operations
  • previous experience with industrial cooking
  • excellent communication skills and experience communicating with both hourly staff and company executives
  • the ability to manage in a diverse environment with a strong focus on client and customer services and satisfaction
  • experience with and knowledge of all Microsoft Office suite applications

Job Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience coordinating food service operations
  • previous experience with industrial cooking
  • excellent communication skills and experience communicating with both hourly staff and company executives
  • the ability to manage in a diverse environment with a strong focus on client and customer services and satisfaction
  • experience with and knowledge of all Microsoft Office suite applications
  • ServSafe and/or HACCP certification

Job Duties

  • Managing all functions of the food service department and its resources
  • manage and lead a team of associates, including hiring and training new employees
  • ensuring that staff meet all culinary, safety, and sanitation standards and regulations
  • budgeting for the department, including directly purchasing ingredients and ensuring the account meets all targets and forecasts
  • conferring with the district manager or other departments regarding the technical and administrative aspects of dining service
  • addressing customer service needs
