The district is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and efficient learning environment for its students, staff, and families. As an organization, it values professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic among its employees to ensure seamless operations that directly contribute to student success and overall school functionality. Known for its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the district strives to maintain an environment where all employees and students are treated with respect and dignity. Located in Marion, Iowa, the district encompasses a range of educational facilities and administrative offices that require consistent, dependable support for various operational needs, including food service and supply deliveries.

The Food Service Delivery/District Courier Driver role is essential in supporting the district's daily operational requirements by efficiently managing the transportation and delivery of food supplies, equipment, textbooks, and other materials to schools and other district locations. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and operates primarily during the school year with typical working hours from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm. The role demands a high level of responsibility, involving the pick-up, loading, and timely delivery of multiple types of essential items such as breakfast and lunch meals, trays, pans, recycling materials, and confidential interoffice mail. Additionally, the incumbent must maintain the assigned delivery vehicle, ensuring it is fueled, clean, and in good working order.

Key duties also include collecting gate cash, handling deposits, assisting in food service kitchens when needed, and supporting the district’s standards of health and safety. Strong management skills are necessary to succeed in this role, as the driver is expected to demonstrate organization, professionalism, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal skills while interacting with staff, students, parents, and community members. The position requires adherence to traffic laws, accident reporting, and maintaining confidentiality within the school programs. Work conditions are physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting, bending, squatting, and occasional exertion of significant force to manage food carts and equipment. Candidates must be able to handle fluctuating temperatures, both indoors in kitchens and coolers and outdoors depending on seasonal weather changes.

Overall, this position is ideal for motivated candidates who are dependable, customer-service oriented, and capable of maintaining the district’s high standards for safety and professionalism in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. It presents an opportunity to play a vital role in the daily operations of the Marion Independent School District, ensuring that students and staff receive the necessary materials and services to support educational programs effectively.
