The organization operates a broad network including non-profit preschools, public charter schools, and a School of Education offering master’s and credentialing programs accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Located in Sacramento and San Bernardino Counties, Fortune School is deeply dedicated to closing the African American achievement gap and preparing students for success in college and citizenship in a democratic society. Their mission focuses on graduating high-achieving students of good character, while their vision emphasizes preparing teachers and staff who are competent, compassionate, and culturally responsive to help students reach their fullest potential. The school’s philosophy is grounded in The Five Pillars—High Expectations, Choice and Commitment, More Time, Focus on Results, and Citizenship—applied in every aspect of the school environment to promote both excellence and equity.
The role of Food Service Coordinator (FSC) at Rex and Margaret Fortune School of Education carries vital leadership responsibilities to ensure that students at Ephriam Williams College Prep and William Lee College Prep receive nutritious, high-quality meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position plays a critical part in the daily operations and management of food service, coordinating meal preparation, ordering, food safety compliance, and team support. The FSC oversees the smooth functioning of the kitchen and dining operations, ensuring adherence to health standards and safety regulations while cultivating a positive dining experience that supports students’ health, focus, and overall success. The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, dependable, and passionate about promoting student wellness and creating a supportive and friendly meal environment.
As Food Service Coordinator, you will be responsible for supervising food service staff, managing inventory and ordering supplies efficiently, maintaining pristine kitchen and dining areas, ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety protocols, and promoting a service-oriented culture that aligns with Fortune School’s core values. Your role will include operational oversight and hands-on participation in food preparation and service, maintenance of accurate records for regulatory compliance, and teamwork with school leaders, staff, and vendors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who values leadership in a mission-driven educational setting and wants to contribute significantly to the holistic development of students by supporting their nutritional needs and fostering a positive school community. The position offers competitive hourly compensation and a consistent weekday schedule, providing a balanced and supportive work environment with opportunities for growth and professional development.
