We are seeking a skilled Food Service Cook to join our dynamic team. The Food Service Cook will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of food items including hot meals, sandwiches, baked goods, and modified diet foods in alignment with established recipes and production guides. This role requires a thorough understanding of food safety protocols such as HACCP and sanitation standards to minimize waste and ensure food quality. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of food service experience and the ability to follow detailed instructions independently. Key responsibilities include preparing foods for patients and hospital outlets, performing cooking and baking tasks using standard kitchen equipment, cleaning and maintaining kitchen tools, and ensuring proper labeling and storage of leftover items. The position also involves conducting food temperature checks and practicing strict safety measures as per hospital guidelines. This full-time role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the care environment by providing nutritious meals that support patient recovery and wellbeing. ServSafe certification is preferred but not mandatory. Job Duties
- prepare food in accordance with applicable federal state and local standards guidelines and regulations
- prepare food for patients retail outlets catering and doctor’s lounge
- prepare various types of hot foods baked items sandwiches and other short order items following production sheets and approved recipes
- prepare modified diet foods for all outlets
- perform cooking and baking operations using standard kitchen equipment such as stoves ovens broilers and microwave ovens
- ensure food is prepared using proper quality control and sanitation standards and in sufficient quantities to minimize waste
- distribute food to appropriate locations
- work independently given proper directions
- clean and maintain standard kitchen equipment used in food preparation
- ensure food preparation area is properly cleaned and sanitized
- ensure leftover foods are properly labeled dated and stored
- complete food temperature checks utilizing taste and temperature logs
- practice proper safety techniques according to hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- report any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions unsafe conditions or injury-accidents to manager
