Job Description

Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County is a reputable non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the youth and providing them with safe, positive, and enriching environments for growth and development. With strategically located clubhouses and school-based clubs throughout St. Lucie County, the organization focuses on serving areas where youth need the most support and guidance. Renowned for its commitment to nurturing potential and creating opportunities for a great future, the Boys & Girls Clubs organize a range of programs that promote educational achievement, healthy lifestyles, leadership skills, and community engagement. The organization is an equal opportunity employer and maintains a smoke, drug, and alcohol-free workplace to ensure a healthy, professional environment for all employees and members.

The Food Service Cook and Food Truck Driver position at Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the well-being of youth by preparing and serving nutritious food in a manner that complies with sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards. This part-time role is designed for up to 20 hours per week with a competitive salary and reports directly to the Executive Chef. The employee will be entrusted with preparing a variety of meals both in a traditional kitchen setting and in a mobile food truck environment, ensuring that every dish meets rigorous standards for quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

This role demands a combination of culinary skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for following recipes with precision, coordinating food preparation to match serving schedules, and maintaining clean and orderly work environments. The position also involves mentorship opportunities where the food service cook will engage with workforce teens, guiding them in nutrition education and culinary practices. Moreover, the role extends to the operation and maintenance of the food truck, requiring adherence to HACCP rules, proper food storage, and kitchen security.

Employees in this position will benefit from a supportive work culture that values effective communication, continuous learning, and teamwork. The organization supports its staff by offering a 401k plan, childcare waiver, an employee assistance program, and other valuable benefits. Candidates can expect opportunities for professional development and the satisfaction of contributing to a mission-driven organization focused on changing the lives of young people. Additionally, flexibility is required as the organization may ask employees to work special events that take place during evenings or weekends, to further support community outreach and engagement efforts.

In summary, this Food Service Cook/Food Truck Driver role is ideal for individuals passionate about food service, eager to work in a community-centered environment, and excited about helping shape the future of youth through nutritious meals and culinary education. The job offers diverse responsibilities—from food preparation and sanitation compliance to participating in organizational training and occasional event work—making it a dynamic and rewarding position within the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County.
