The Food Service Cook/Food Truck Driver role is a part-time position offering up to 20 hours per week with a competitive salary. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef and based at 3361 S. Jenkins Road, Fort Pierce, FL, this position encompasses responsibilities related to food preparation, cooking, and food truck operations. The primary purpose of the role is to prepare and cook a variety of foods according to customer orders or supervisory instructions while strictly adhering to sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards. This role requires following established procedures and recipes to ensure quality, appearance, and safety of all food served. The Food Service Cook will be an essential part of the team and actively contribute to the Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission by providing nutrition education and mentoring opportunities for workforce teens. The role also calls for meticulous organization, proper food storage, and maintenance of cleanliness and equipment to maintain a safe and efficient kitchen environment.

Additional responsibilities include portioning, wrapping, stocking, and managing food on the food truck, along with ensuring the mechanical readiness and cleanliness of the vehicle. The candidate will need to comply with HACCP rules and regulations and participate in mandatory trainings and staff meetings. Occasionally, the role may require working special events during evenings or weekends to support organizational initiatives. Because this position is directly involved in food service for youth, candidates are expected to pass Level 2 background screenings and obtain or maintain SERV Safe Food Safety certification. The Food Service Cook/Food Truck Driver must possess strong communication skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for delivering quality meals that support the health and well-being of the community’s youth. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of food service experience
  • Must submit to and pass Level 2 background screening
  • SERV Safe Certification required or must obtain within three months of employment
  • Ability to follow organizational policies and procedures
  • Effective communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Capable of working at a fast pace standing for long periods
  • Ability to multitask
  • Knowledge of recipe development and food preparation

Job Qualifications

  • Must submit to and pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Children & Families
  • SERV Safe Manager Food Safety Certification required or must obtain SERV Safe Certification within three (3) months of employment
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 1 year of food service experience
  • Follow policies, procedures, and rules of the organization

Job Duties

  • Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards
  • Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques
  • Store food properly and safely, marking the date and item
  • Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to the immediate supervisor
  • Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes planned for the day and or specialized event
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that meals are served according to posted schedules and that the excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved
  • Apportion food for serving
  • Keep work area organized and clean at all times
  • clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation
  • follow general and weekly cleaning checklists as posted
  • Conduct nutrition education projects and mentor workforce teens

  • Follow all HACCP rules and regulations
  • Wash, peel and cut various foods to prepare for cooking or serving
  • Stock serving areas and refrigerators
  • Set up and breakdown food prep and service stations, keep records of temperatures and amounts of foods used
  • Ensure the food truck is in proper mechanical and working order
  • Cover, label, and date all leftover foods for storage
  • Perform other tasks as assigned or required
  • Actively participate in mandatory Boys & Girls Club trainings and All Staff meetings
  • Occasionally may be required to work special events promoted by the organization during evenings and/or weekends
  • Completes any additional assignments as requested by supervisor
