The Food Service Cook/Food Truck Driver position is a part-time role offering up to 20 hours per week, with a competitive salary and a range of employee benefits including a 401k plan, child care waiver, and an employee assistance program. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, this role plays a vital part in the daily operations of the club's food service initiatives, ensuring that nutritious, safe, and high-quality meals are prepared and served to youth members and guests. The successful candidate will be responsible for cooking a variety of meals according to established recipes and safety standards, managing food storage and preparation tasks, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in both kitchen and food truck settings.
This dual role also involves the safe operation of the food truck, including equipment maintenance, food handling in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) rules, and customer service during meal times and special club events. The position demands strong organizational skills and attention to detail to adhere to food safety protocols, portion control, and meal scheduling. Additionally, the Food Service Cook/Food Truck Driver will mentor workforce teens and participate actively in club trainings and meetings, contributing to the overall mission of supporting youth development. Given the nature of the work, the role requires physical stamina to stand for extended periods and the ability to juggle multiple concurrent tasks efficiently. This position also occasionally involves working during evenings or weekends for special events, highlighting the dynamic and community-focused environment of Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- 1 year of food service experience
- must submit to and pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Children and Families
- SERV Safe Manager Food Safety Certification required or must obtain SERV Safe Certification within three months of employment
- ability to work at a fast pace and stand for long periods of time

Job Duties
- Comply with established sanitation standards personal hygiene and health standards
- observe proper food preparation and handling techniques
- store food properly and safely marking the date and item
- report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to immediate supervisor
- correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes planned for the day or specialized event
- plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so meals are served according to posted schedules preserving excellence quality temperature and appearance of food
- apportion food for serving
- keep work area organized and clean at all times clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation follow general and weekly cleaning checklists as posted
- conduct nutrition education projects and mentor workforce teens ensuring they are never left unattended
- ensure security of the kitchen at the end of each workday
- portion and wrap food or prepare for service to customers in the food truck
- clean service station cooking equipment and food truck kitchen area
- prepare and cook a variety of foods according to customers orders or supervisor instructions following approved procedures
- follow all HACCP rules and regulations
- wash peel and cut various foods to prepare for cooking or serving
- stock serving areas and refrigerators
- set up and breakdown food prep and service stations keep records of temperatures and amounts of foods used
- ensure the food truck is in proper mechanical and working order
- cover label and date all leftover foods for storage
- perform other tasks as assigned or required
- actively participate in mandatory Boys & Girls Club trainings and all staff meetings
- occasionally work special events during evenings and weekends
- complete additional assignments as requested by supervisor
