The Food Service Cook IIA position at Nova Blanche Forman Elementary School is a nonexempt role offering 6.25 hours of work per day at an hourly rate of $17.23. This position focuses on performing skilled culinary work in the preparation and service of reimbursable school meals that meet nutritional standards. The employee will be responsible for meeting production deadlines and maintaining the quality and safety of food products served to students and staff. The Cook will follow daily work schedules, manage kitchen duties such as food pre-preparation, production, service, and cleanup, and operate food service equipment safely. Participation in ongoing state-approved training related to school food service is expected to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with best practices.
Responsibilities also include customer service excellence when interacting with students, parents, and staff, adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations including HACCP standards, and assisting with inventory management and ordering of supplies. The role demands the careful following of recipes and documentation of food preparation to ensure consistency and compliance with federal and state guidelines. Additional duties might involve driving refrigerated trucks or vans for food delivery and maintenance tasks that do not require climbing.
The ideal candidate for this role will have prior experience in food service or cashier work, possess the ability to read, follow directions, and communicate effectively in English. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Florida Driver’s License, and bilingual skills. Physical requirements involve medium work, including lifting up to 30 pounds, ensuring the role suits individuals capable of handling a moderate level of physical activity.
