The Food Service Cook position at NHC HealthCare North Augusta is an integral role within the Food Nutrition Service Team. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food preparation or food service
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow dietary guidelines and special instructions
  • good communication skills

  • physical ability to stand and perform manual tasks for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • prior experience in food preparation or food service preferred
  • knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices

  • basic math skills for measuring and portioning
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights

Job Duties

  • Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies to prevent waste and ensure quality products
  • date, label, and store items properly
  • use proper food handling techniques
  • scrape, stack, wash, and sanitize dishes, flatware, utensils, pots and pans
  • remove broken or chipped dishes and glassware from use
  • wrap flatware if needed
  • properly transport and store dishes, flatware, utensils, pots and pans
  • ensure sufficient quantities of clean and sanitized items to meet meal preparation and service schedules
  • clean and sanitize dish machine and dish room
  • empty and clean trash cans
  • keep the work area clean and uncluttered
  • complete assigned cleaning duties
  • assist cook as needed in preparing and serving foods for all diets including therapeutic and mechanically altered diets according to menus and proper portions
  • prepare beverages, breads, and other assigned menu items
  • assemble meal trays on tray line and check trays for accuracy of diets, preferences, and quality
  • deliver carts to floors as needed
  • bus tables in dining area as needed
  • clean and sanitize tabletops in dining area
