Job Description

This job opportunity is located within the unique and stunning environment of Mount Rainier, Washington, a place renowned for its majestic waterfalls, pristine mountain meadows, and peaceful old-growth forests. Operating primarily in the summer months from April to October, this position offers seasonal employment at one of the nation's most iconic National Parks. Employees here not only gain invaluable work experience but also have the rare chance to live and work surrounded by nature's spectacular beauty. The establishment serves guests in a cafeteria setting within the park, focusing on providing excellent and friendly guest service while handling food preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning duties. The workplace thrives on a team-oriented atmosphere with supportive management and a lively environment that accommodates visitors from all over the world.

The role itself is centered on cafeteria food operations where the successful candidate will be responsible for multiple facets of food service. These responsibilities include cooking short order foods, operating the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently and courteously, maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of food service areas, and assisting guests at the counter with their orders. Employees will be expected to perform cashiering duties, wash dishes, manage inventory and restock shelves to ensure a smooth flow of operations at all times. Importantly, the position reports directly to the General Manager, highlighting a well-structured supervisory environment. A competitive wage of $17.77 per hour is offered, reflecting the high standards and responsibilities of this food service role.

Given the setting within a National Park, prior National Park experience is preferred but not mandatory, providing an excellent entry-level opportunity for those passionate about nature, hospitality, and guest interaction. Candidates will be required to obtain food safety certification to ensure the highest hygiene and safety standards are maintained. The physical demands of this job are considerable; it involves frequent standing, lifting, reaching, and moving throughout the work area, all essential for efficiently managing food service duties in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The job also requires the use of personal protective equipment such as goggles, gloves, and cut gloves, underscoring the emphasis on safety.

To enhance the employee experience, several benefits are provided including sick pay in accordance with Washington State law, employee discounts, access to a recreation program, and an Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, housing and meal plans are available, making this an attractive opportunity for individuals seeking employment in a distinct and natural setting. The work environment is designed to foster a positive employee experience while delivering impeccable service to guests visiting one of the most celebrated natural landmarks in the United States.
