The role of Food Services Assistant/Truck Driver is a multifaceted position reporting directly to the Food Service Manager. It is an entry-level role designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the efficient operation of school food services. This position involves a combination of routine kitchen tasks, including assisting with food preparation, serving, and storage. The Food Services Assistant is also responsible for cleaning and maintaining food service areas, operating various mechanical equipment safely, and making timely food deliveries to three remote school locations using the MCP 20ft Box Truck. This delivery aspect requires not only basic truck driving skills but also compliance with safety regulations and the ability to perform a driver field test.
The position typically involves weekday shifts when students are present, with a schedule of up to 8-hour shifts between the early morning hours of 5:30 am and 2:00 pm. This schedule supports the coordination of deliveries and meal services during school days. The role demands physical stamina, as employees must be able to lift and move food and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds or more. The job also requires punctuality, reliability, and the ability to follow instructions meticulously to ensure quality and safety.
In addition to the core duties of food preparation and service, this role also requires maintaining cleanliness in serving lines, condiment stations, kitchen floors, and equipment. The Food Services Assistant actively participates in inventory management by checking out supplies from the storeroom and assisting with deliveries. They play a crucial role in upholding proper food safety by practicing and observing sanitation procedures and safe handling methods, which are reinforced through mandatory training. Excellent communication skills are essential for effective interaction with scholars, staff, and visitors, as well as for teamwork with the cooking staff to ensure food quantity needs are met during meal service.

Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- minimum 1 year of related food service experience in a commercial establishment required
- experience within a school food service environment is a plus

- able to communicate effectively in written and oral form with positive interpersonal skills
- demonstrated ability to work safely with food production equipment and tools
- able to provide excellent customer service

Job Duties
