The Food Service Associate - Retail position at Bell Hospital offers full-time employment opportunities with two available shifts: 8 AM to 4:30 PM and 12 PM to 8:30 PM. These roles are pivotal in delivering quality food service to patients, visitors, and staff within the hospital environment. The position involves multiple responsibilities, including building patient meal trays, preparing fresh fruits and vegetables, serving hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as managing grab-and-go food options. Additionally, the Food Service Associate handles delivery of patient trays, attends to retail customers, and participates in dishwashing activities to maintain cleanliness and food safety.
This role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards related to food quality, safety, and sanitation aligned with HACCP and departmental protocols. Candidates will work across various hospital units such as Food Production, Cafeteria (Main or Cambridge), Doctor's Lounge, Trayline, and Support Services, with cross-training provided to perform tasks in multiple stations depending on assignment. Flexibility in work hours may be required to support different meal services and production needs.

- Prior food service experience
- Ability to read, write and speak English

Job Duties
- Performs duties in one of the following department units: Food Production, Cafeteria (Main or Cambridge), Doctor’s Lounge, Trayline, or Support Services
- Cross-trained to perform in one or more of the units and/or stations within the primary unit
- Maintains food/product/supply quality and safety following HACCP and department standards
- Operates, monitors, and cleans any equipment used to perform job duties following directions and unit standards
- Maintains orderliness, safety, and sanitation of work and/or service area(s), according to unit standards and work station assignment
- During periods of downtime in primary unit, assists in another unit according to assignment or at request of supervisor
- Delivers and retrieves food carts for patient food service as assigned
- Tests and evaluates new recipes in Food Production
- Adjusts work hours to support food production, patient meal service, or cafeteria service
- Loads and unloads the dish machine
- Demonstrates competence in critical thinking, interpersonal relationships, and technical skills
- Provides care/service safely and efficiently to each patient
- Assists with on-the-job training of new employees
- Performs professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
