Currently, The Henry Ford is hiring for multiple Food Service Associate roles at Plum Market, its signature dining experience situated inside the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. This food and beverage position is part of a team committed to supporting daily food service operations by delivering prompt, courteous, and professional service while ensuring an outstanding guest experience. Unlike typical restaurant environments, these roles offer hospitality work without the late-night hours usually associated with the industry. As an ambassador of The Henry Ford brand, Food Service Associates communicate menu knowledge effectively, employ positive sales techniques, and interact professionally and warmly with guests and colleagues. They are tasked with upholding the highest standards of customer service, food safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence within a collaborative team culture. Job Requirements
- Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age
- some high school or equivalent experience
- weekday, weekend, evening and holiday availability
- customer service focused with hospitable demeanor
- ability to communicate politely and efficiently
- able to stand and walk for extended periods
- able to lift, carry, and push items up to 25 lbs
- able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- able to work in non-air-conditioned environments
- able to work in proximity to coal and wood smoke
- demonstrate mental focus including observation, analysis, interpretation, decision-making, and multi-tasking
- able to work efficiently under pressure around large crowds
Job Qualifications
- Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age

- requires some high school or equivalent experience
- must be customer service focused with a hospitable demeanor
- should be enthusiastic and possess good communication and oral skills
- self-starter with knowledge of suggestive selling techniques
- strong communication and customer service skills
- ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team
Job Duties
- Serves food in a variety of daily food services operations
- performs opening and closing tasks as assigned
- handles cash accurately and efficiently
- possesses knowledge of menu description and can effectively communicate them with guests
- ensures an outstanding guest experience
- interacts and communicates with guests and co-workers in a professional and friendly manner
- possesses knowledge of sales techniques
- assumes responsibility for cleanliness of assigned areas in keeping with the health and sanitation guidelines
- handles and stores all equipment properly and with care
- performs other activities as necessary
- acts as a team player, providing expertise within the team and with other team members as appropriate
- adheres to The Henry Ford and the Food service department rules and policies at all times
