As a prominent health system known for its innovation, quality services, and compassionate approach, Rochester Regional Health offers a wide range of medical, surgical, and rehabilitation services across its hospitals and outpatient facilities. The organization prioritizes community wellness, patient satisfaction, and staff development, creating an environment where healthcare professionals can excel and make a significant impact on patients' lives. With a strong focus on teamwork, continuous learning, and diversity, Rochester Regional Health fosters a culture that values excellence, respect, and inclusion within its workforce.

The Food Service Associate role within the Food and Nutrition Services department at Rochester General Hospital is a vital position that supports the daily nutritional needs of patients, residents, and customers across the hospital’s various units. This part-time position averages 19 hours per week and includes shifts primarily scheduled on weekdays from 3:45 pm to 7:30 pm, along with every other weekend morning or afternoon shift, allowing for a balanced work schedule. The pay range for this role is between $16.00 and $18.00 per hour, reflecting the importance and responsibilities associated with the position.

As a Food Service Associate, the incumbent will undertake essential duties involving the preparation, assembly, and delivery of meals strictly following prescribed menu and diet specifications while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. The role requires careful attention to detail to ensure timely and accurate meal service that caters to the diverse dietary needs of patients and hospital residents. This position demands proficiency in proper food handling practices, equipment use, and sanitation to comply with health regulations and internal standards.

In addition to meal assembly, employees will perform tasks in designated dishwashing or cleaning areas to maintain kitchens and storage spaces including coolers, freezers, and dry goods areas. The role also involves responsible cart delivery throughout the hospital units, fostering positive interactions with patients and staff to uphold excellent customer service. Associated tasks like inventory control assistance, restocking supplies, and the safe operation of food service equipment are also crucial responsibilities within this role. The Food Service Associate will contribute to maintaining a neat, sanitary, and well-organized work environment essential for smooth operations.

Ongoing participation in staff meetings and training sessions is an integral part of this position, ensuring that employees stay up to date with department policies, food safety standards, and operational improvements. The role emphasizes professionalism, appropriate hygiene practices, and a positive representation of the Food and Nutrition Services department through uniform compliance and ethical conduct. Occasionally, cash handling and register operations may be required, adding an element of financial responsibility to the position.

The ideal Food Service Associate should demonstrate a customer service-driven attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation is preferred, alongside previous experience in food service roles, although not mandatory. Proficiency in the English language to understand instructions and communicate effectively is highly desirable to ensure flawless service delivery in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position requires medium physical exertion, involving frequent walking, standing, squatting, and the ability to lift between 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, highlighting the need for physical readiness and stamina.

Joining Rochester Regional Health means becoming part of a supportive and dynamic team dedicated to enhancing patient experiences through quality food service. The role provides opportunities for skill development, a structured work schedule, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to patient care within a renowned health system.
