Job Description
Rush Copley Medical Center is a well-established healthcare facility known for its commitment to excellence in patient care and employee satisfaction. As part of the larger Rush healthcare system, Rush Copley provides comprehensive medical services in a supportive and dynamic environment. The medical center is recognized for its innovative practices, highly skilled staff, and dedication to serving the local community's diverse medical needs. Rush Copley values teamwork, professional growth, and a culture of safety, making it a respected employer in the healthcare industry.
The Dietary department at Rush Copley Medical Center is currently seeking motivated individuals to join their team as Dishwashers. This part-time role offers flexible scheduling options between 1:00 am and 8:30 pm, designed to accommodate various lifestyles and commitments. The position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $15.00 to $22.50, commensurate with experience and skill level. Employees benefit from a supportive work environment that encourages learning and development.
As a Dishwasher at Rush Copley Medical Center, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, which directly impacts patient care and overall hospital operations. Your responsibilities will include efficiently washing, rinsing, and sanitizing all dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment, either through automated dishwashing machines or manual stations. Ensuring all items are stored properly and ready for immediate reuse supports the kitchen and service teams in delivering timely meals to patients, visitors, and staff.
You will be responsible for maintaining high sanitation standards in compliance with food safety regulations such as HACCP and guidelines from health departments. Your role also involves managing waste disposal, including removal of trash, food waste, and recyclables from dish room areas, as well as reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs concerning dishwashing equipment. Physical demands of this position include standing or walking for extended periods, frequently lifting and moving dish racks and equipment up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, all while working in sometimes wet and humid conditions.
In addition to your day-to-day duties, you will actively participate in required training sessions, safety meetings, and pre-shift briefings. Adhering to safe work practices, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and promptly reporting accidents or unsafe conditions are crucial components of your job. This role offers not only a chance to support a vital operation within the medical center but also fosters a sense of responsibility and pride in contributing to the health and safety of the community.
Joining the Rush Copley Dietary team means becoming part of an organization that respects hard work, values diversity, and promotes a balanced work-life experience. The position encourages individuals who are at least 18 years old and those with prior food service experience will find an advantage but it is not mandatory. To comply with health regulations, employees must obtain a Food Handler’s certificate, ServSafe, or a comparable license within 30 days of employment.
Overall, this Dishwasher position at Rush Copley Medical Center offers a rewarding opportunity for individuals seeking part-time work within a reputable healthcare institution, complete with competitive pay, flexible hours, and valuable benefits like access to an on-campus fitness center and a 401k plan with employee matching.
