The Meals on Wheels Food Service Associate is a full-time role that offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to contribute directly to the welfare of seniors. This position operates Monday through Friday, within daytime hours from 6 am to 2 pm, and entails working primarily within the kitchen environment. The associate will be responsible for preparing and packaging nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with established portion sizes and kitchen prep sheets, ensuring that every senior client receives their food safely and hygienically. This role demands a strong attention to detail, particularly regarding kitchen sanitation and food safety standards. Associates must manage the cleanliness of their work areas, including trash disposal and floor maintenance, to uphold the organization’s high health and safety protocols.
In addition to technical food preparation duties, the associate must be an effective communicator, capable of following instructions from management carefully and executing tasks reliably. Flexibility to perform additional assigned duties as needed is also essential. Physical demands include the ability to push and pull loaded carts up to 200 pounds, work in cold environments such as freezers, and perform repetitive movements like lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. This position requires a candidate who is physically fit, emotionally stable, and able to work efficiently within a team-oriented kitchen setting.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- food handling or kitchen experience advantageous
- ability to work Monday through Friday from 6 am to 2 pm
- capacity to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and push carts up to 200 pounds
- able to work in cold freezer environments
- good physical health and emotional stability
- ability to follow instructions and work in team setting
Job Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- possess basic mathematical skills
- successful completion of pre-employment physical
- pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening including THC and background check
Job Duties
- Prepare and package food in trays and snack boxes for client delivery
- maintain cleanliness of work area including trash removal and floor cleaning
- follow kitchen prep sheets accurately
- distribute correct portion sizes in food trays
- listen carefully and follow directions from management
- perform additional assigned duties as needed
