Job Requirements

  • Age 18 or older
  • Ability to pass background checks and complete required Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families trainings
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Must have experience working in institutional or highly regulated food settings
  • Must hold a current food worker card
  • Ability to understand and comply with Washington State food safety regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Willingness to work Monday through Friday in an 8-hour shift within school operating hours

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of cooking methods and food preparation procedures
  • Experience in institutional or regulated kitchen settings
  • Active and current food worker card
  • Understanding of Washington food and beverage worker manual
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with USDA and CACFP guidelines preferred
  • Two or more years experience in school or early childhood education kitchen preferred
  • Working knowledge of food allergens and dietary accommodations preferred
  • Experience with Montessori pedagogy and children with special needs preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred

Job Duties

  • Place weekly food orders with vendor based on student attendance trends and food waste analysis
  • Receive and verify daily food deliveries ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Manage vendor performance and food cost efficiency
  • Prepare and serve meals following USDA, CACFP, and local childcare regulations
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety protocols
  • Organize food inventory, labeling, dating, and rotation
  • Provide classroom support including direct supervision and assistance with daily living skills
