Located in Tacoma - Hilltop, this location exemplifies the academy's mission by fostering a diverse and inclusive learning space. The school emphasizes nutritional excellence, safety, and community connection. With a strong mandate on compliance with federal and local regulations, Bezos Academy ensures every aspect of the child’s well-being is addressed, including their dietary needs and classroom environment.
The Food Service Assistant role at Bezos Academy is pivotal in promoting health, safety, and educational quality through nutrition. This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, with an hourly wage ranging from $19 to $28, depending on experience and qualifications. The role is responsible for the comprehensive management of kitchen and food service operations including preparation, ordering, delivery, and compliance with USDA and CACFP standards. This entails preparing meals that are nutritious and adhere strictly to childcare regulations, managing food inventories and waste, and ensuring timely delivery of meals to classrooms.
In addition to food service duties, the Food Service Assistant supports broader school operations, including inventory checks, laundry, and occasional classroom supervision. This cross-functional role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and flexibility to adapt to different tasks and schedules in order to support both the food program and the school environment. The position offers significant benefits such as paid breaks, holidays, personal and sick leave, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance. Employees also benefit from life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) plan with employer contributions, paid parental leave, and additional flexible spending accounts.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of food preparation best practices, an understanding of compliance requirements, and a commitment to the welfare of children. Experience in regulated kitchen environments and familiarity with USDA/CACFP program requirements is strongly preferred. The Food Service Assistant is a key team member contributing to the well-being of children and the smooth operation of the preschool, fostering an environment where every child can thrive and grow.
