Job Description
Bezos Academy is a tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschool dedicated to nurturing every child's full potential through a rich and inclusive early learning environment. The Academy operates with a focus on equity and excellence, providing high-quality education and care that lays the foundation for lifelong learning. With multiple locations, including the preschool in San Antonio - Universal City, Bezos Academy prioritizes creating a supportive community for children, families, and staff. The institution embodies the Montessori philosophy, emphasizing independence, respect, and holistic development in a warm and inviting environment.
As a Food Service Assistant at Bezos Academy, you are entrusted with a critical role that ensures children receive nutritious and compliant meals daily. This full-time, benefits-eligible position runs typically from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and offers competitive pay from $21 to $31 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Your responsibilities span managing all kitchen operations with strict adherence to USDA standards, local childcare regulations, and Bezos Academy policies. This includes preparing CACFP-compliant menus, ordering and verifying food deliveries, managing food costs, and ensuring meals are served punctually and safely.
Beyond meal preparation, your role extends to supporting the school community through various operational tasks such as inventory management, laundry, and occasional classroom supervision. Your efforts contribute to the overall excellence of the preschool experience by maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety, and documentation. This position is vital in maintaining the daily rhythm of the preschool’s nutrition services, where detailed attention to food allergens, dietary restrictions, and cultural food preferences is essential.
The Food Service Assistant at Bezos Academy not only oversees food-related responsibilities but also actively participates in improving kitchen processes and supports classroom activities by assisting teachers and children directly when required. This dynamic role suits individuals who thrive in structured yet flexible environments and are passionate about early childhood education and child nutrition. With comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, paid breaks, holidays, and parental leave, Bezos Academy supports your well-being and professional growth.
Join Bezos Academy and become part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to providing quality education and care in a nurturing setting where every child's potential is valued and cultivated. This opportunity allows you to combine your culinary skills with your commitment to childhood development and community service, making a tangible impact in the lives of young learners and their families.
