As a Food Service Assistant at Bezos Academy, you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of food preparation and service within the preschool environment. This part-time position requires a minimum commitment of 25 hours per week, with a typical work schedule running Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Your work will directly impact the wellbeing of young children by ensuring they receive meals that meet or exceed nutritional standards set by the USDA and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), as well as adherence to Texas food safety regulations.

In this role, you will take full ownership of the kitchen and food operations at the school. Your responsibilities include preparing menus compliant with CACFP guidelines, placing and managing food orders, verifying food deliveries, tracking food consumption and waste to manage costs, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. You will also document all necessary information related to food safety, temperature logs, and compliance records. Beyond the kitchen duties, this role involves supporting classroom staff by providing meal service and occasionally assisting with direct supervision and support of children within the classroom setting. Additional duties include managing inventory checks, assisting with laundry, and supporting school events by serving meals during family engagement activities.

The Food Service Assistant position is well-suited for candidates who possess knowledge of cooking methods and procedures, require attention to detail, and are capable of working in an institutional food service environment. Candidates should feel comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods while performing repetitive tasks. The ability to follow strict food hygiene, safety protocols, and documentation procedures is essential.
