This innovative educational institution is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Located in Deerfield Beach, Florida, Bezos Academy is dedicated to excellence in both education and care, providing families access to exceptional learning experiences that are accessible to all. The academy not only upholds rigorous academic standards but also emphasizes the importance of nutrition and wellness in early childhood development as part of its comprehensive approach to education.
The Food Service Assistant position at Bezos Academy plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of the children by managing all aspects of food preparation and service in a manner that is compliant with state and federal regulations. This part-time role (25 hours per week) is based at the Deerfield Beach location and typically involves working from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Compensation ranges between $19 and $28 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Employees in this position enjoy benefits such as paid sick time and a 401(k) plan with employer-matched contributions, reflecting the organization's strong commitment to its team.
In this role, the Food Service Assistant is responsible for preparing nutritious, CACFP-compliant meals according to USDA guidelines and cafeteria regulations. The successful candidate will oversee food ordering, receiving, inventory management, and cost control to minimize waste while ensuring that all meal services run smoothly and safely. Attention to detail is essential, as the role demands strict adherence to food safety protocols, accurate documentation, and timely service delivery to classrooms. Moreover, the Food Service Assistant will contribute beyond the kitchen by assisting with classroom support, administrative tasks, and general school operations. This flexibility and teamwork embody the collaborative spirit of Bezos Academy, helping to maintain a safe, clean, and enriching environment for children and staff alike.
The ideal candidate for this position must be experienced in working within regulated food environments and hold active food handler and manager certifications. They should demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion along with the ability to communicate effectively and support young children. Understanding and experience with USDA/CACFP meal programs, food allergies, dietary accommodations, and Montessori pedagogy are highly valued. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to integrate nutrition, education, and care in a dynamic preschool setting, contributing to children's holistic growth while being part of a dedicated, passionate team focused on early childhood excellence.
