Job Description

Cardea Health is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering compassionate health care services to marginalized and vulnerable populations, primarily focusing on individuals experiencing homelessness. Their mission centers around creating and supporting programs that sustain health, autonomy, and equity, advocating social justice to foster the overall well-being of the community they serve. Operating throughout Alameda County across multiple sites, Cardea Health provides an array of medically-supported services including post-hospitalization care, medically supported shelter, medical respite care, skilled nursing, and caregiving support. They are staunch advocates for diversity and inclusion, actively seeking to build a dynamic workforce that reflects the rich mosaic of experiences and backgrounds in society. Individuals from underrepresented communities are especially encouraged to apply, as the organization values unique perspectives and strives for equitable opportunities for professional advancement and personal growth within the company.

The Food Services Assistant role at Cardea Health is integral to ensuring that participants reliably receive nutritious meals. This position supports the daily meal and nutrition services operations across multiple program locations. Duties involve the careful receipt, stocking, rotation, and inventory management of food supplies using recognized inventory methods such as FIFO (First In, First Out) to maintain freshness and safety. The assistant will also deliver food and supplies to various program sites, assist with meal preparation, cooking, service setup and breakdown, as well as uphold food safety and sanitation standards in all food service areas. By maintaining reliable meal services, the assistant directly contributes to the health and well-being of the individuals Cardea serves, helping address food security among vulnerable populations. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to teamwork within a fast-paced, compassionate service environment. The position is on-site, requiring interaction with patients, clients, and fellow staff members in supportive housing and healthcare settings across the county. Overall, the Food Services Assistant plays a vital role in supporting Cardea Health's mission by ensuring access to safe, nutritious food in a respectful and dignified manner.
