This particular role is based in Charlotte and is a part-time permanent position within the Food & Restaurant department. The position is integral to maintaining the operational excellence of IKEA Food, a division that serves more than 660 million customers annually at IKEA restaurants worldwide. The Food Service Team aims to provide delicious, honest, healthy food that resonates with IKEA's Scandinavian heritage and commitment to sustainability.

As a Food Service and Dishwashing Associate, you will play a vital role in preparing and maintaining IKEA Food menu items with strict adherence to food handling, health, and sustainability standards. Your responsibilities include engaging with customers to support informed purchases, processing sales transactions efficiently and accurately, and ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of kitchen and dining equipment. You will maintain the Swedish Food Market by overseeing product merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and sanitation, as well as ensuring all food solutions are stocked properly and meet food safety standards.

Working hours include open availability on weekends, with a schedule that supports a work-life balance. The salary range for this role is $17.58 to $24.83 per hour, depending on experience.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in food service or related field preferred
  • Ability to work part-time with open availability on weekends including Saturdays and Sundays from 9AM to 9PM
  • Ability to adhere to health and safety regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to stand and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • Willingness to undergo a background check if required

Job Duties

  • Prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items according to the IKEA Food concept, adhering to food handling, health, and sustainability standards
  • Respond to customer inquiries to support informed purchases and process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, adhering to cash handling policies
  • Maintain equipment operation through adherence to operating guidelines, troubleshooting breakdowns, and conducting preventive and cleaning maintenance
  • Maintain a clean supply of dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and trays that comply with Food Safety Standards
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of dining and play areas
  • Manage the Swedish Food Market by overseeing merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and the cleaning and sanitization of sampling equipment and areas
  • Ensure accurate and timely price communication across all food solutions, including digital platforms, menu boards, and shelf tags
  • Maintain supply rotation and stocking in all IKEA Food solutions, adhering to First In, First Out (FIFO), expiration dates, and sustainability standards
  • Implement IKEA Food policies and procedures for goods receiving and monthly inventory
  • Adhere to safe food handling, workplace safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations, promptly reporting concerns to managers
  • Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers
