The position offers between 12 to 20 hours per week with a fully open work schedule that includes evenings and weekends, and work schedules are published one month in advance. The Food Service & Dishwasher Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence at IKEA Food. The associate is responsible for preparing and maintaining IKEA Food menu items according to established concepts, ensuring all food handling, health, and sustainability standards are strictly adhered to. This role demands a strong commitment to food safety and quality as well as the ability to engage positively with customers by responding to inquiries and processing sales accurately.

Responsibilities also include maintaining and troubleshooting kitchen equipment and ensuring that all dining and play areas are clean and organized to provide a welcoming environment for customers. An important aspect of the position involves managing the Swedish Food Market section by overseeing merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and cleanliness of sampling equipment and areas.

The Food Service & Dishwasher Associate is expected to accurately communicate prices across all food solutions, including menu boards and digital platforms, and manage inventory through appropriate stock rotation practices that adhere to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles and sustainability standards. The position requires adherence to IKEA Food policies and procedures for receiving goods and conducting monthly inventory counts.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years related experience
  • Food Handler Certification and/or Food Handler Card as required by local jurisdiction required within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to work a fully open schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years related experience
  • Experience in a high-volume customer facing environment preferred
  • Experience in a high-volume retail environment with knowledge of basic merchandising and selling concepts preferred
  • Food Handler Certification and/or Food Handler Card as required by local jurisdiction required within 30 days of employment

Job Duties

  • Prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items according to the IKEA Food concept adhering to food handling health and sustainability standards
  • Respond to customer inquiries to support informed purchases and process sales transactions accurately and efficiently adhering to cash handling policies
  • Maintain equipment operation through adherence to operating guidelines troubleshooting breakdowns and conducting preventive and cleaning maintenance
  • Maintain a clean supply of dishes silverware cooking utensils pots pans and trays that comply with Food Safety Standards
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of dining and play areas
  • Manage the Swedish Food Market by overseeing merchandising pricing stock rotation and the cleaning and sanitization of sampling equipment and areas
  • Ensure accurate and timely price communication across all food solutions including digital platforms menu boards and shelf tags
  • Maintain supply rotation and stocking in all IKEA Food solutions adhering to First In First Out FIFO expiration dates and sustainability standards
  • Implement IKEA Food policies and procedures for goods receiving and monthly inventory
  • Adhere to safe food handling workplace safety hygiene and sanitation regulations promptly reporting concerns to managers
  • Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers
