Job Description

Duke Health is a prestigious healthcare system committed to providing compassionate and innovative care that transforms the lives of patients, their families, and the wider community. Renowned for its dedication to excellence, Duke Health encompasses a network of hospitals and outpatient facilities offering a wide range of specialized medical services. Among its facilities, Duke Raleigh Hospital, a campus of Duke University Hospital, stands out as a vital part of this network. Located in Raleigh, North Carolina, Duke Raleigh Hospital is a 204-bed facility and the third largest among the four Duke Health hospitals. It provides comprehensive medical services including cancer treatment, cardiovascular care, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal services, and wound healing. As part of Duke University Health System, the hospital combines cutting-edge technology with compassionate care, enhancing patient outcomes and fostering a collaborative work environment for its staff.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Food Service Ambassador Associates. This role involves supporting hospital food service operations to ensure that patients, visitors, and staff receive timely and quality food service. Working primarily during the evenings from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM Monday through Friday with weekend availability, associates will be based at Duke Raleigh Hospital’s address at 3400 Wake Forest Rd, Raleigh, NC. This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about customer service and food safety to contribute their skills within a respected healthcare institution.

The Food Service Ambassador Associate role includes two levels of responsibilities, Level I and Level II, which may sometimes be combined depending on departmental structure. At Level I, associates perform routine tasks under immediate supervision, including operating dish machines, washing heavy cooking pots, cleaning kitchen areas, and transporting food service supplies. Level II associates undertake more complex food preparation and service duties such as assembling and serving food, managing inventory, handling catering functions, and sometimes operating as cashiers. This role demands excellent attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and adherence to strict hygiene and safety standards. The position offers hands-on experience in a healthcare food service environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth within Duke Health’s supportive culture.

Duke Health encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds and provides equal employment opportunities regardless of age, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or military status. Employees at Duke Raleigh Hospital benefit from a workplace culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity. Furthermore, Duke Health is committed to accommodating essential job functions requiring specific physical or mental abilities. This role is ideal for those seeking a meaningful career in healthcare support services, offering chances to develop skills in inventory management, food preparation, and customer interaction in a fast-paced, dynamic hospital setting. Join Duke Health and help us advance health together by contributing to a critical aspect of patient care—nourishment and food service excellence.
