Job Description

This job opportunity is with a healthcare-related food service establishment that specializes in preparing and serving meals primarily for patients, cafeteria patrons, and special functions within a hospital or medical facility. The company operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where food safety, nutritional quality, and efficiency are of paramount importance. Working as part of a food service team in such a setting requires commitment to high standards, attention to detail, and good communication skills. The position is primarily focused on 2nd shift duties, with one 3rd shift per week, accommodating candidates who are flexible and can adapt to varying schedules.

The role of the food preparer and server is essential in ensuring that patients receive timely, nutritious, and properly prepared meals, while also supporting cafeteria operations and special events. Reporting directly to the Food Service Supervisor, this position does not carry supervisory responsibilities but plays a vital role in the day-to-day food preparation and service aspects. Employees in this role must adhere to strict health and safety regulations, follow recipes and HACCP guidelines, and work efficiently to maintain the schedule of food service operations. The position demands an individual who is customer-service oriented, displays teamwork, and is willing to contribute to the overall success of the food services department. Candidates should be aware of the physical demands of the job which include lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations are available to help employees perform essential functions safely and effectively.

This role is best suited for those with some prior cooking experience and a high school diploma or GED equivalent. While no special certification or license is required, basic math skills and the ability to read and write effectively are necessary. The food preparer will be responsible for ensuring the quality of food items through careful preparation and storage and will keep the workstation clean and organized. The work environment encourages a culture of cooperation and respect, with employees expected to communicate essential information clearly and assist teammates proactively. Importantly, adherence to hygiene standards such as shaving or wearing a beard guard is mandatory to comply with health regulations.
