Job Description

Our healthcare facility is committed to providing exceptional food service and nutritional support to patients, staff, and visitors. We operate a therapeutic kitchen and cafeteria that serve a range of dietary needs, including general and specialized therapeutic diets. Our team works under the direction of the Dietary Director, Manager, and Supervisors to ensure that all food service operations are carried out efficiently and in compliance with safety and sanitary standards. We emphasize a clean, pleasant, and safe dining environment and provide catering services as needed. The institution values punctuality, professionalism, and a team-oriented work ethic to support the well-being of our community.

The Food Service Aide role is integral to our daily food service operations, encompassing responsibilities in the therapeutic kitchen, cafeteria, and cash register operations. This position requires a dependable individual who can adhere to strict sanitary guidelines and food safety protocols, handle monetary transactions accurately, and maintain a clean and orderly work environment. The Food Service Aide plays a key role in customer service by interacting courteously with patients, visitors, employees, and customers, providing assistance and directions whenever necessary.

In addition to these duties, the Food Service Aide participates in catering setup, service, and cleanup as required, ensuring events run smoothly and professionally. This role involves assembling prepared food trays, managing inventory and restocking supplies at various workstations and nursing units, and assisting in delivering late trays and nourishment. The position demands effective communication skills, especially when interacting with patients and healthcare staff, and the ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions precisely.

The ideal candidate will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and prefer previous food service experience. Familiarity with portion sizes, pricing, and cash register operations is essential. Attention to personal hygiene and compliance with department dress codes, including wearing hair coverings, uniforms, and name badges, is mandatory to ensure infection control and a professional appearance.

Our facility offers a supportive environment that prioritizes safety, quality, and teamwork. Candidates will be trained on proper emergency responses, including hospital codes, and required to consistently practice safety measures by using the recommended protective equipment and staying informed through Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). This role is dynamic and may include other duties assigned by supervisors, allowing for opportunities to learn and contribute within a healthcare food service team. We seek motivated individuals who are dependable, possess strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining our institution's high standards for food service excellence.
