Job Description
Stinker is a reputable family-owned convenience store chain established in 1936, widely recognized as a leader in the retail convenience sector across Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming. Known for its community-focused approach and vibrant company culture, Stinker uniquely balances work, convenience, food, family, and fun under its distinctive Skunktastik mascot, Polecat Pete. The company’s commitment to providing exceptional employee experiences while delivering high-quality products and services has earned it a solid reputation in the industry. Stinker continually invests in its people, promoting an inclusive and supportive workplace where employees can thrive, grow, and have fun. This commitment extends beyond customers to ensuring team members enjoy competitive pay, flexible schedules, and comprehensive benefits.
The Food Service Specialist (FSS) role at Stinker is a full-time position that typically requires 30 to 40 hours per week, located at the Boise, Idaho store at 10677 W. Ustick Rd. The position requires open availability, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays, offering a dynamic work environment suitable for individuals who enjoy variety and a fast-paced retail setting. The hourly wage offered is $13.50 per hour, reflecting the company’s competitive compensation philosophy.
The FSS is a crucial member of Pete’s Posse, responsible for preparing and delivering delicious food offerings known as Pete’s Eats, a step above the typical convenience store fare. This role is not just about food preparation; it’s about upholding high-quality standards and delivering consistently fresh, appetizing products made from quality ingredients. The FSS works directly with store leadership to align food production with customer preferences and store inventory, ensuring a well-stocked and appetizing selection at all times. A key component of this role involves stringent attention to food safety, including proper preparation, labeling, temperature monitoring, and storage practices, maintaining Stinker’s promise of safe and tasty food.
Additionally, the Food Service Specialist is expected to maintain cleanliness and sanitation within the food preparation and equipment areas, helping to sustain a safe and pleasant environment for both customers and staff. The job demands an individual capable of multitasking with high attention to detail, balancing efficiency with quality. With tasks ranging from food-making to product rotation in cold and hot cases, the FSS plays an integral role in the daily operations and overall customer satisfaction.
Stinker prides itself on fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes people-first policies, evident in the extensive benefits offered to employees. From merit-based pay raises, holiday pay, and paid time off that increases with tenure to robust health insurance options including medical, dental, and vision coverage, employees enjoy comprehensive support. Additional perks like a 25% discretionary 401(k) match, access to DailyPay for early wage access, referral rewards, employee discounts, and an Employee Assistance Program for life’s challenges reinforce Stinker’s commitment to employee welfare. The company is also committed to diversity and equal opportunity employment, emphasizing a respectful and motivating work environment.
Joining Stinker as a Food Service Specialist means becoming part of a dynamic team that values quality food, exceptional service, and a lively, supportive workplace culture. Individuals who enjoy working in a fun, fast-paced setting where their contributions directly affect customer satisfaction and company success will find this role rewarding. Stinker encourages candidates who are solution-focused, thrive under changing conditions, and care about food quality and safety to apply and embark on a career journey that fosters growth, fun, and community connection.
