Job Description
The hiring establishment is a food service provider operating within a healthcare or retirement community setting. This organization is dedicated to delivering quality nourishment services to its residents, ensuring that dietary needs and preferences are met with utmost care and professionalism. The company maintains high standards for cleanliness, food safety, and customer service, adhering specifically to Kasruth (Kosher food laws) which is integral to their operations. This emphasis points to a culturally sensitive and health-conscious environment, catering to residents who require specialized nutrition management and impeccable service standards.
This Food Server/Dietary Aide position plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of the dining services within this community. The role involves preparing menu items like salads and desserts, serving food to residents with a friendly and caring attitude, and ensuring that all food service areas maintain high standards of sanitation and organization. The employee must be knowledgeable in portion control and attentive to specific dietary requests, such as those detailed in Health Care Nourishment request sheets, which must be delivered promptly to the Nursing Station. This position requires flexibility and the ability to work under supervision, reporting to the Dining Room Supervisor and Food Service Director. Additionally, the role demands physical stamina such as standing for long periods, lifting trays, and tolerating varying temperature conditions within the work environment. The Food Server/Dietary Aide role also includes responsibilities beyond meal service, such as re-stocking supplies, cleaning dining areas, and assisting with special functions when needed.
This position is ideal for those who are compassionate, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining efficiency in a dynamic healthcare food service setting. A minimum age requirement of 16 years and a current Food Handler's Permit are mandatory, ensuring that candidates are ready to meet health and safety standards. The role offers a chance to be part of a supportive team focused on enhancing residents' dining experiences through attentive and respectful service. Key to success in this role is the ability to communicate well in English, follow both oral and written instructions accurately, and present oneself with a neat, clean appearance. The employment type is likely part-time or full-time based on shifts, with an expectation of adherence to dress codes, including wearing slip-free shoes and a name tag. This job provides an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking experience in food service within a healthcare or specialized dietary environment, where they can contribute meaningfully to resident care and satisfaction.
