Job Description
Child Start is a trusted early childhood education and care provider dedicated to nurturing the growth, development, and well-being of children. With a commitment to delivering high-quality services, Child Start operates centers that focus on providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children to learn and grow. The organization emphasizes the importance of comprehensive care, including appropriate nutrition, educational activities, and family involvement, ensuring each child’s developmental needs are met holistically.
The Child Start Food Server role is an integral position within the organization, designed to ensure that children receive nourishing and safe meals throughout the day. This position involves preparing and storing food items to provide healthy snacks and meals according to scheduled menus and dietary requirements. The Food Server is responsible for maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards, including the upkeep of refrigerators, ovens, cabinets, and other kitchen equipment, all in alignment with Health Department and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.
This role not only demands attention to detail and consistency in food safety protocols but also requires effective communication with kitchen staff and coordinators to handle menu adjustments based on dietary needs. Daily duties involve accurate documentation of food temperatures and portions, inventory management, and assisting with the planning and execution of family activity events that incorporate food-related elements. The Food Server helps maintain confidentiality regarding children's information and ensures excellent service by delivering the appropriate amounts of food to each classroom.
This is a part-time position, offering 24 hours of work per week at a competitive hourly wage of $13.80. The job is located in Wichita, KS, and is not eligible for remote work. The position requires regular attendance and physical ability to lift or move objects up to 30 pounds. Child Start prioritizes employee benefits, offering medical, dental, and vision plans, short-term and long-term disability coverage, a 403(b) retirement plan, and paid holidays, demonstrating the organization's commitment to employee well-being and satisfaction. Candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States and comply with health vaccination requirements as mandated by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).
