With over 50 years of experience and a dedicated workforce exceeding 10,000 team members across more than 250 plants in North America, this organization is deeply committed to protecting the food supply chain. Headquartered in Atlanta, GA, Fortrex emphasizes strong partnerships and innovation to deliver reliable and sustainable food safety services. The company’s core mission is to safeguard families everywhere by eliminating risks associated with food production. They prioritize safety, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement while fostering a collaborative environment focused on advancing a safer future for all stakeholders involved.
The Food Safety Team Member position based in Escondido, CA, is a full-time, permanent, on-site role offering a competitive wage of $19 per hour. The individual in this role, often referred to as a Food Safety Sanitor, plays a crucial part in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the food production process. This position demands a meticulous and dedicated professional who is passionate about upholding safety regulations and sanitation protocols. The Food Safety Team Member is responsible for executing comprehensive sanitation tasks by following an eight-step cleaning process that aligns with company policies and food safety guidelines. This includes working closely with management and team leads to ensure all sanitation procedures are thoroughly and properly completed.
In this physically demanding role, the team member will frequently lift hoses, equipment, and chemical containers, and use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, face shields, eye goggles, aprons, boots, and safety glasses to protect themselves while working in various temperature conditions, including wet, hot, and cold environments. The job also requires vigilance in handling chemicals safely, performing periodic standing, crouching, and lifting, and strictly following lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures to maintain a safe workplace. The Food Safety Team Member must demonstrate a strong safety awareness, be capable of taking directions from supervisors, and act responsibly in their daily activities.
This role offers a supportive and inclusive work setting dedicated to equal opportunity employment. Fortrex ensures reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and promotes ethical and honest communication with all employees. The company’s benefits package is comprehensive, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, retirement plans, paid holidays, paid vacation, employee assistance programs, and opportunities for training and career development. This position is ideal for those seeking job security and the chance to contribute meaningfully to food safety while working within a reputable industry leader that values its people like family.
