The Food Safety Quality Systems (FSQS) Supervisor role at Lopez Dorada is a critical leadership position responsible for coordinating and managing the FSQS team to ensure outstanding communication, collaboration, and execution of food safety and quality practices. This position requires working closely with technicians, facility leadership, and various departments to influence product quality and safety positively. The FSQS Supervisor champion special projects, oversee sample integrity, conduct performance reviews, and ensure compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role also supports succession planning by identifying and developing talent within the team.

As an FSQS Supervisor, you will be expected to oversee daily operations such as completing travel paths throughout the facility, managing inventory and supplies, and maintaining departmental budgets. The role also includes responsibilities such as coordinating with production supervisors during contamination events, filling in for the HACCP Coordinator or Superintendent, and handling critical product disposition decisions. This position embodies a hands-on leadership role that contributes significantly to Lopez Dorada's mission of maintaining and elevating food safety standards.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience working in food processing environment
  • Basic computer skills in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team and management
  • Capability to manage staffing and schedules
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks such as walking and lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required
  • Commitment to maintaining food safety and quality standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in a food processing environment
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage teams and coordinate cross-departmental efforts
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and protocols
  • Experience in conducting performance reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Job Duties

  • Communicate with FSQS Manager, Superintendent, and Technicians daily to facilitate information flow
  • Work closely with facility leadership across departments to maximize FSQS’s influence on product quality and food safety
  • Provide cross training to technicians in other areas of responsibility
  • Identify and develop individuals with desired skill sets as part of succession planning
  • Manage staffing, vacation schedules, and limit overtime
  • Create, update, and perform performance reviews with technicians
  • Issue disciplinary actions as required
  • Handle laboratory samples ensuring sample integrity
  • Lead special projects assigned by FSQS Manager or Superintendent
  • Complete daily reports accurately and timely
  • Conduct daily travel paths throughout the facility
  • Monitor inventory, ordering, and maintenance of FSQS supplies and equipment
  • Assist in departmental budget maintenance
  • Update SOPs and job descriptions as needed
  • Work with Production Supervisors on contamination event investigations and product disposition
  • Fill in for HACCP Coordinator or FSQS Superintendent including reviewing HACCP paperwork and product release
  • Receive, calibrate, and issue thermometers daily and weekly
  • Secure and verify all finished goods under FSQS HOLD status
  • Expedite product disposition determinations for HOLD products without compromising food safety or quality
  • Participate in or supervise product development or process improvement initiatives
