Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in food science, food microbiology, chemistry, biology or related fields
- Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
- Minimum five years of experience in food safety roles with at least two years management experience
- Knowledge of food microbiology, food chemistry, food safety and food regulations
- Understanding of FDA FSMA, cGMP, HACCP regulations and USDA rules
- Strong leadership and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in technology and Microsoft Office applications
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related fields
- Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
- Five or more years of experience in Food Safety roles with a minimum of 2 years management experience
- Technical proficiency in food microbiology, food chemistry, food safety and food regulations
- Proven understanding of FDA FSMA, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), HACCP regulations and USDA requirements
- Proven analytical and leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to read and understand food safety and quality reports and take appropriate action
- Collaborative leadership style that inspires, manages, coaches and respects people
- Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills
- Knowledge of computer skills and technology including scanners, tablets, printers, copiers and Microsoft Office, as well as cloud based systems
Job Duties
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as FDA, USDA, customer specifications and corporate food safety and quality standards
- Manage food safety program ensuring FDA FSMA preventive controls effectiveness and record maintenance
- Provide technical expertise on HACCP, food safety, sensory and quality evaluations
- Conduct monthly assessments of the food safety program for compliance
- Perform routine microbiological testing as defined by the food safety program
- Review and analyze weekly food safety documents including HACCP logs
- Utilize checklists to ensure consistent fulfillment of food safety program requirements
- Support CSC leadership with inspection and audit readiness, coaching before, during and after audits
- Supervise pest control programs and manage associated contract services and suppliers
- Conduct investigations related to food safety issues and support CSC management in customer communications
- Perform and document periodic quality checks on products and services
- Interface with internal functional areas and external teams to ensure sustainability of food safety programs
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, customers and regulatory authorities
- Monitor and prepare reports for food safety and quality management systems
- Insert monthly-required data into company web-based portals
- Collect and monitor all food safety and quality documents
- Keep manuals and documentation updated and implement new procedures and rules timely
- Recruit, onboard, develop, coach, train, support, and evaluate performance of Food Safety staff
- Participate and support company initiatives such as Global Quality Standards, HACCP, Lean Manufacturing and Employee Safety
